About the Port
Cochem rises along a bend of the Moselle River, its pastel façades, half-timbered houses, and cobbled laneways framed by steep hillside vineyards. Above the rooftops stands Reichsburg Castle, the town's defining silhouette, while remnants of the old town wall and fortifications recall Cochem's medieval origins. The town hall and other historic buildings anchor a compact center built for unhurried strolling.
As part of Germany's wine route, Cochem offers easy access to local Riesling and other Moselle varietals, best sampled in small wine taverns tucked along the riverfront. The old town sits within walking distance of the pier, making it simple to explore on foot before venturing uphill toward the castle grounds. Vineyard-covered slopes rise on either side of the river, giving the entire setting a quiet, storybook character.
