About the Port
Portimão, the largest city in the western Algarve, built its early prosperity on sardine fishing and canning, a legacy still visible in its waterfront character. Today the old town centers on a lively riverside promenade lined with shops selling traditional lace, ceramics, and leatherwork, alongside restaurants serving the region's seafood. The city also serves as a convenient base for exploring the wider Algarve.
