About the Port
Punta Vicente Roca sits at the northwestern tip of Isabela Island, formed by the flank of an ancient volcanic caldera that meets the sea in sheer, layered cliffs. Because there is no dry landing here, exploration takes place entirely by panga boat, gliding along the shoreline to observe the striking geology up close. Nutrient-rich waters converge at this point, drawing in marine life and making the site a favored feeding ground.
The cliffs and coves provide nesting habitat for a variety of seabirds, and flightless cormorants are among the notable sightings, alongside penguins and other marine species that favor these cool currents. The absence of a landing site preserves the area's untouched character, offering a quieter, water-level perspective on the island's volcanic origins. It stands as one of the more geologically striking calls in the Galápagos archipelago, best appreciated through binoculars and a patient eye.

These rare, endemic birds nest on the ledges here and are best seen drying their stunted wings on the rocks near the waterline. Keep a patient eye out as the panga glides close to the cliffs.
Watch for Penguins and Marine Life
Cool, nutrient-rich currents converge at this point, drawing Galápagos penguins, sea turtles, and rays into the shallows. Early morning light offers the best visibility for photos from the boat.
