About the Port
Tomonoura sits within Setonaikai National Park, its small harbor ringed by weathered wooden buildings, stone breakwaters, and a townscape that has changed little over generations. The port has long served as a waypoint for vessels navigating the Seto Inland Sea, and its tidy streets still reflect that maritime past, from ship chandlers' shops to narrow lanes built close to the water.
Among its local industries is the production of homeishu, a traditional herbal liquor blended from more than a dozen ingredients and long associated with health and longevity.
