About the Port
Trieste occupies a singular place on the Adriatic, its elegant Austro-Hungarian architecture recalling the decades it served as the empire's principal seaport. Grand Piazza Unità d'Italia opens directly onto the water, ringed by stately buildings that speak to a cosmopolitan past shaped by merchants, writers, and diplomats.
